The Beginning: Joining Homelike

Javi began his career at Homelike in February 2023 as an intern in our Cologne, Germany office. Reflecting on his first impressions, Javi describes Homelike as a dynamic company offering significant flexibility to its employees. The welcoming work environment and multicultural team played a crucial role in making his transition smooth and enjoyable.

Passion for Sales and Personal Growth

Javi’s passion for business began in childhood, driven by an innate curiosity about generating revenue and negotiation. This passion grew through his studies in international business and his attempts at online businesses. An extroverted and sociable individual, Javi loves learning about different cultures and interacting with people worldwide, which makes sales a perfect fit for him. He also speaks multiple languages, including German, English, and French, which his job allows him to practice continuously.

An appealing aspect of sales for Javi is the performance-based incentives. “My bonus and salary are determined by my performance, which strongly motivates me to work hard,” he said.

Mentorship and Influence

Mentorship has been a cornerstone of Javi’s success at Homelike. He credits two internal mentors for significantly influencing his development: Adam Jamil and Giovanni Vinci. “Adam invested a lot of time in my development during my initial onboarding and continues to support me. Giovanni, with his extensive experience, always shares valuable knowledge and motivates me,” Javi explained.

Cultural Differences: Germany vs. Spain

Having worked in both Germany and Spain, Javi has insightful observations about cultural differences in the workplace. He notes that German workplaces tend to be more structured and formal, with an emphasis on hierarchy and procedures. In contrast, Spanish workplaces are more informal and collaborative, focusing on personal interactions and work-life balance. Despite these differences, Javi found that Homelike’s multicultural environment remained consistent, allowing him to thrive regardless of his location.

For those starting in sales, Javi offers valuable advice:
