Homelike’s approach to the future of work is centered around trust and flexibility. We give our employees the possibility to work from home as well as to have freedom to work from outside their country of employment for 2 whole months a year. I have taken advantage of the future of work policy and worked 2 weeks from France. I went to Paris, but I did not feel that my work routine changed since I worked my normal working hours and I had all the possibilities to keep up with my schedule.
I would definitely highlight my experience of just going out to the city after work and being able to explore Paris during my work week. It was a great adventure. Learning French was especially good for me. I got a chance to visit some of my friends in Paris and I took that as an advantage to work on my French language skills as well.
My overall experience working from abroad was positive. It was nice being out of my hometown for a bit and disconnecting from the typical day-to-day plans. I enjoyed myself and got to know a bunch of new people. Most importantly, I managed to visit Disneyland for the first time!!
I would absolutely like to do it again. I do not have a fixed destination just yet, but it would be somewhere surprising.
Recommendations:
In terms of my recommendations to the readers, it is hard for me to say. I mainly went to bakeries to have coffee and some baguettes and croissants. Such a tourist 😉
“Café de Flore” is a common place to visit in Paris, but I still highly recommend it.
Not such a trendy place, but still a really nice local Korean restaurant “ILANG”.
Lastly, a cozy place near Sacre Coeur – “Le Consulat”.
