14. September 2018 · TechCrunch Germany’s Homelike, an Airbnb-like service focused on longer-term rentals, raises $14M led by Spark

The success of Airbnb has created a major disruption in how people choose where to stay when they visit other places. Gone are the days of assuming a hotel is the best or only option; a selection of private accommodations might prove to be more interesting, cheaper and more flexible. Now, an Airbnb-like startup out of Germany called Homelike — which focuses on rentals of a month or more, often for business but also other customers — has raised $14 million to expand its business to more of Europe, starting with the UK.

One growing sector we can add to the travel accommodation list is long term stays for business travellers. Enter Cologne-based Homelike, founded in 2015 by Dustin Figge and Christoph Kasper. The German startup targets business travellers who need “long-stay” accommodation of a month or more and for which a hotel doesn’t really cut it. Citing growing demand from both the supply and demand side, the startup has just raised €4 million in Series A funding led by Cherry Ventures, with participation from existing backer Coparion.

3. June 2016 · hospitalitynet Homelike expands to Switzerland: Largest marketplace for temporary housing in DACH region

The B2B online booking platform for temporary housing Homelike has succesfully expanded its business to Switzerland. Homelike now offers more than 12,000 furnished apartments in 20 cities in the DACH (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) region, which can be booked entirely online. The German based property technology (PropTech) startup is currently the largest provider of temporary housing for corporate and business travellers in DACH region, starting at rental periods of one month.

1. December 2015 · Serviced Apartment News German online booking platform sees 60 per cent growth in three months

Homelike has recorded inventory growth of 60 per cent in the last three months due to growing demand from corporate customers. The Cologne-based company was founded in early 2015 and since then around 150 companies have booked a furnished apartment online. The average length of stay is four months. The most popular cities are Berlin, Cologne, Munich and Frankfurt.
